Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should I order a surface mount register or a flush mount register?
A: Surface Mount registers are excellent for homeowners who wish to replace existing registers. There is no installation needed, the register fits in the duct opening and raises above your floor by 3/8". Flush mount registers are excellent for homeowners who are installing new floors or who plan on having their new registers cut into their floors by a flooring professional. Flush mount registers lay flush with your flooring and do not raise above your floor at all.

Q: How do I know what size register to order?

A: Measure the size of your duct opening. Duct sizes are usually standard in size. For example, you may have a 4"x12" duct opening or a 6"x 14" duct opening. There are many different standard size duct openings. Once you have measured your duct opening, order the corresponding register size. A 4"x 10" duct opening would use a 4" x 10" size register.

Q: What size frame should I order when ordering a flush mount grille with frame?
A: You should order the same frame size as the duct size opening. For example, if you are ordering a 6 x 12 grille, you would order a matching 6 x 12 frame to go with it.

Q: What is the difference between a slotted register and an eggcrate register?
A: We offer two styles of registers - slotted and eggcrate. Slotted registers are stronger, so if your registers are located in a high traffic area you may want to consider this style. Eggcrate registers allow for greater airflow, so if you want to maximize airflow to and from your system you may want to consider this style.

Q: How are your grilles manufactured?
A: Our grilles are manufactured using the highest quality kiln-dried hardwood. We mill our grilles out of one solid piece of hardwood to maximize strength and we have designed our patterns and sizes to maximize air flow. For our slotted style grilles, we mill the slots horizontally along the longer dimension of the grille and with the grain of the wood which also maximizes the strength of our grilles.

Q: How long will it take to receive my order?

A: In stock items are shipped immediately. Most custom grilles are shipped within 2-4 business days. Certain complex custom grilles are shipped within 7 to 10 days. We are happy to work with you to help you meet any time constraints you may be facing.
